Who we are
Norex is a small digital studio run by its two founders, James Norrish and Alex Berriman. James turns complex products into clear customer value and steady growth. Alex is a product and technology leader with 20 years across startups, scale-ups and high-traffic digital platforms.
There is no account layer between you and us. The people who agree what should be built are the people who build it, and the people you call when something needs attention afterwards.
Why we started it
The problems worth solving in a business rarely sit inside one trade. Making it easier for a customer to book, pay or get an answer can touch the website, the office process, the software the team already pays for and the way work is handed between people.
Businesses are usually left to coordinate that themselves across separate designers, developers and software vendors. Context gets lost in the gaps, decisions slow down, and nobody quite owns the result. We started Norex to keep that work in one place, and to build around the outcome a business actually needs rather than the deliverable that is easiest to sell.
What we will write about here
This is a place for practical notes, written for people running businesses rather than for other developers. Mostly it will be the thinking behind decisions we help clients make, written down so it is useful to someone we have never met.
- Websites, and what actually makes one produce enquiries.
- Apps, and how to tell when you need one and when you do not.
- Automation, and which repetitive work is safe to hand over.
- Practical AI, and where it earns its place in a small business.
- The unglamorous parts: what things cost, how long they take, what breaks.
How we will write it
Plainly, and with the awkward parts left in. If a piece of technology is not worth buying, that is more useful to read than an argument for buying it, so we will say when a simpler answer will do.
We will not invent case studies, borrow numbers or dress up an opinion as evidence. Where we are describing an approach rather than a finished result, we will label it that way.
If you have something in mind
You do not need a finished brief to talk to us. The most useful first conversation is usually about what is slow, unclear or holding the business back, and we can work out the shape of the answer together from there.
If that sounds like something you are sitting on, start a project with us or send an email to hello@norex.au. It goes to the two of us.
