The challenge
The plan falls apart between the office and the field.
Field work is often coordinated through a mix of scheduling software, text messages, paper forms and end-of-day data entry. That makes the current plan hard to trust and leaves office teams waiting for incomplete updates.

Make the next action obvious
The app opens on today's work. Each job shows its planned time, location, status and any condition that could prevent completion. The worker can start navigation, contact the site or open the job without searching through several screens.
Schedule changes appear in context and require acknowledgement when they materially affect the day. The design avoids turning every update into an alert, reserving interruption for information that needs a decision.
Carry the job context into the field
A job view brings together access instructions, customer contacts, equipment details, prior notes and the required scope. Sensitive information can be restricted by role and removed from the device after an appropriate retention period.
Key information remains available when reception is poor. The app shows when the phone is offline, holds changes on the device and says clearly when they have reached the office, rather than implying that every action has already gone through.
Turn completion into a guided record
The completion flow asks for evidence in the order the work happens. Required checks can vary by job type, while optional notes remain quick to add. Photos, readings and material use stay attached to the relevant job.
If a required check fails, the app opens a way to report the problem instead of forcing the worker to mark the job complete. That path can request a reason, capture supporting evidence and notify the right person in the office.

Give operations a live but usable view
The office view focuses on decisions rather than constant location tracking. It shows jobs that are at risk, waiting for support, running outside their planned window or still sitting unsent on someone's phone.
Dispatchers can adjust ownership and schedules with a visible reason. Field workers receive the relevant change, while the activity history preserves what was planned, what changed and who made the decision.
Validate the work where it happens
A prototype should be tested with workers using realistic job information, movement and interruptions. Big buttons, one-handed use, glare, gloves, camera access and what happens when coverage drops all affect whether a mobile workflow works outside a meeting room.
An initial release could cover a single job type from assignment through completion. Connecting the scheduling, customer and billing systems would follow the decisions about which system owns each record, agreed during discovery.
